COVERLICIOUS: Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse #12), Charlaine Harris

From Goodreads:
Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Now the vampires and the shapeshifters are 'out', you'd think the supernaturals would get on with each other. But nothing is that simple in Bon Temps!

Release Date: May 1st 2012 from Gollancz
Pre-Order: Amazon  |  Book Depository

I'm a BIG Sookie fan. Aside from Twilight, the Southern Vampire Mysteries are really what turned me onto paranormal fiction, and started an outright obsession. I'm always excited for a new Sookie book, despite the criticism the moe recent books have garnered. I love escaping to Bon Temps. I love the people, I love the supes, I love Sookie's house, and the cemetary separating it from Bill's. A trip to the Sookieverse is like a visit with old friends.

In Australia, we have really stereotypical paranormal covers for the Sookie books, so it's really fun seeing the US ones. They're nothing like what I'd have pictured for these books, but I love that they're quirky and left of field, a bit like these books themselves, and Bon Temps. While I like them, I have a friend who hates them. What do you think?

Still no real blurb, and not much to go off, but all the sneaky little clues in the cover! The cluviel dor, the letter, the wolf pack! Are you excited? I am :D

  4. I've only read the first two and never actually felt the need to continue. I don't know why, but there's something bugging me in them. o: I read them for Eric mainly, lol. I have more waiting and have planned on trying at least a few more, since I don't really dislike the series. I'm still hoping to fall for it like so many others have!

  5. @Wendy: Yay! So excited!

@Rebecca: You know my BFF felt the same way. I'm sure she'll read them eventually, but had no real urge. I think the first 4 books are the best in the series, though, so I hope you read them. YES to Eric!

  6. So many people love this series! I never did get into it, but I love the tv show. I know that it is not the same. Thanks for sharing!

  7. @Actin' Up with Books: I love True Blood, too! I do think they're really different, so it's easy to see why you could like one and not the other. And you're totally not alone. Sookie's an acquired taste, I'm beginning to think :)

  8. Well can you believe I pretty much own every book in the Sookie Stackhouse series and have yet to read any of them, I've watched season 1 and loved it and I own season 2 but haven't watched that yet I'll get around to them eventually I hope I'm just a bit overwhelmed with my tbr pile at the moment.
    Thanks for stopping by

  9. @Sarah: Hehe! I hope you like them! The first series of True Blood is a lot like the first book, but they're a bit different thereafter.

And if you own them, it's not like they're going anywhere, huh? I feel your pain: I'm overwhelmed by my TBR, toooo!

  12. I can't believe I haven't started this series yet!! Is it really that amazing? I'm a HUGE vampire fan (because Twilight was the series that got me into reading too LOL!) and who doesn't love a vampire waitress? ;) This one sounds like SO much fun!

Thanks so much for sharing, Sarah! I really need to start this soon! :)

PLUS: You live in Australia? That is SO COOL! That was always my favourite fun fact in geography class: that Australia was both a continent and a country LOL! How lame am I? x)

  13. Mwaha! I love it! SO not lame, because I swear it's a little fact I love to rattle off, too! We're also an island XD

I really enjoyed the series. They're quirky, and I love reading books set in the South for some reason? I realyl REALLY hope you enjoy them if you get to them!
